Rationale

Globalisation has destroyed limits of space and time The world has been utterly transformed into global village in recent years, globalisation is sweeping old models aside, technology is bringing us together faster and more furiously than ever before, markets rule and governments follow.

Indonesia is a Global Village, caught Between Worlds Very Far Apart. Globalisation is the dominant force in the world today and a profoundly progressive one. Gap among nations is the fact that there is the dark underside of globalisation.

Off Stream was started in the end of 2001 by journalist, filmmaker, photographer and multimedia artist who have strong commitments and creativities on catering, promoting, covering, documenting and producing multiculturalism documentary video/film, photography and multimedia products.

As the old adage goes, the media plays a significant role in raising public awareness, a powerful tool to help public learn and appreciate the roots of their newfound democracy from a perspective of multiculturalism: Respect, Equality and Diversity.
We believe new democracies are not born over night. They develop from grassroots aspirations and struggles so that we believe that the media is not just to reflect data but also bring the people into better lives with fully respect on human rights and justice.
We believe that: "a democratic civilization will save itself only if it makes the language of the image into a stimulus for giving a voice to voiceless, not just an invitation to hypnosis."
Off Stream uses, film, video and digital technology to document a voice of the voiceless and bringing the evidence of the voiceless that is ignored by the corporately owned mainstream media.

Visualisation makes it possible to bring an objective “voiceless” into dangerous situations to document events. In addition, digital technology has, for the first time, made it possible to bypass government imposed restrictions on communications so that voice of voiceless can be free and visible, then justice will prevail.
